"...The artistic realm is a safe haven from the worries of the world. One of our desires is to provide a space for all to delve into their creativity or simply to pick up a brush and put their thoughts on hold for a couple of hours."Read More
We had such a great time with our Dads and kids today at our very first Dads and Donuts. You could tell they had a great time painting donuts, eating donuts, drinking coffee, and painting coffee mugs!Read More
"Our event this Sunday, Paint Away MS, is one very close to my heart. I want to do everything I can to help my mom and help researchers get closer to a cure. Not only is art fun, it is also very therapeutic for lots of people. Art has a way of connecting us to one another that creates a universal bond. Because we choose to paint & walk for those who sometimes can't, because we choose to donate to Walk MS, we are getting closer to the day when no one will have to hear the devastating words, 'You have MS.' Can you believe The Painted Pig has been entertaining creatives of all ages in central Arkansas for 10 years?! We can't either! We couldn't ask for better customers and community support, and that's why we're offering a fantastic POTTERY FOR A YEAR giveaway and a week of promotions to say "thanks!"
Of course, it just wouldn't be a contest without a few rules, so here they are:
1. The prize will consist of a $25 monthly voucher that you can use toward any pottery in the store.
2. Vouchers will be redeemable until the end of each month and cannot be carried over for future months or transferred to someone else.
3. Vouchers are not applicable for use on parties, deposits, camps, Toddler Storytime, Copy Cat Club, mosaics, jewelry, clay prints, door hangers, or on any other special events or in combination with any other promotions or offers.
4. To be entered, your tags must be on THIS POST. You are welcome to share on your wall, but make sure your friends know they must comment here to be entered!
5. This contest closes at noon on Friday, January 20. A winner will be chosen at random and announced soon after that.
We bet you didn't know that The Painted Pig was part of a trade organization for pottery studios nationwide. Actually, make that worldwide. We met folks from Nassau, Bahamas and Europe last week too, when we attended the Contemporary Ceramics Studio Association's 2016 Convention in Charleston, SC. We are all individually owned studios that get together in the fall to take classes, meet with suppliers, and hang out together for inspiration and getting the latest on industry trends. We thought it would be fun to share a little bit about our trip to show you some of the highlights of our classes and new products we found to benefit our customers.
Some of our favorite classes to take are technique classes. We have also enjoyed clay classes, glass fusing projects, door hanger classes, and screen printing projects. This year we also learned how to do Board Art and Life Casting. We also took some classes on Snapchat, Instagram/Instagram Stories, glass birthday parties, employees, kiln maintenance, and of course, some fun pottery classes!
We also love getting to see our industry suppliers and their exciting new products and samples. We get to try out new techniques on the spot, ask them questions, and it's always fun!
Who doesn't love fresh ideas? We saw lots of new trends, such as board painting, glitter underglaze paints (we have these!), pineapple everything, faceted shapes, pastel matte underglazes, screenprinting samples, and more! Here are some of our favorites.
New (& Old) Friends
We had so much fun at classes and meeting our industry partners, but it's also fun to talk to other studio owners and discuss studio happenings, events, parties, staff, and how to juggle family life as well. We met some great people that are new to the industry, and saw some old friends we have known for a while.
We had such an amazing trip. It's always so much information at once, it takes a few days to really digest everything we learned, saw, and found. What kind of things are you interested in us offering? We are always looking for new ideas. Let us know if something pops out at you!
Have a a great weekend,
