The Painted Pig recognized for Best Choice for Art Classes
We are THRILLED to have been voted Best Choice for Art Classes by readers of Kid's Directory for their Kids & Families Awards!
We truly believe that inside everyone is a painter, creator, and maker of some kind, which is why it's important for us to provide a range of classes and events that appeal to all ages and interest levels. Here's the lowdown on the classes currently in rotation at The Painted Pig:
For adults:
Girls Night Out is our longest-standing tradition. Once a month, groups of girlfriends join us from 6-9 p.m. for after-hours creativity, refreshments and socializing. And over the years we've changed it up to offer date nights and mother-daughter nights out, as well.
Since 2011, we've been offering Copy Cat Club, a technique class where one of our staff walks the group through a specific design, usually incorporating a least one trick-of-the-trade that can be used on future project. Participants get to pick what piece of pottery to apply the design to and are encouraged to personalize it, too.
Glass Class usually alternates monthly with Copy Cat Club, and it's great for those who have tried pottery and other crafts and want to try their hands at a completely different medium. Like pottery, fused glass is heated in a kiln, so the before-and-after transformation of projects made in this class is truly amazing.
Last fall we introduced a Door Hanger Class, just in time for the holidays! These year-round door decorators have risen in popularity recently, but we realize not everyone is comfortable picking out the materials and jumping into a project like this by themselves. That's where we come in! We'll walk you through the door hanger from start to finish so you end up with a craft you can proudly hang on your door.
For Kids:
We believe it's important to build creative expression at an early age — that's why we started Toddler Storytime, which gives babies and toddlers up to age 4 the chance to hold a paintbrush, finger-paint, and express themselves. (Don't worry, our paint is washable!) We have two sessions a month, and in addition to painting, toddlers are treated to storytime and refreshments.
For weeks during the summer, we offer Summer Camps for grades 1-8. Camp P.I.G. projects have included everything from mosaics to collages to handbuilding clay, in addition to, of course, painting pottery. We also offer a couple of sessions of our wildly popular Princess Tea Party Camp every summer, where young girls paint a tea set of their very own.
Those are our recurring events, but we also offer special events from time to time! Be sure to watch our calendar and Facebook page for new classes.
