Paint Away MS with us!

We are hosting a special day of fundraising to support MS research this Sunday, April 2 from 12-6pm. One of our own, Katherine, has a close personal connection with this debilitating disease. I asked her to share a little about her experience with Multiple Sclerosis and why its so important to her (and us). 

Katherine's Story

I believe that everything happens for a reason. My Mom has lived with MS for 23 years, and when I was in the 8th grade our family roles were reversed. As with many families living with MS, the journey has not always been easy. With countless ups and downs, creating a new "normal" is a weekly occurrence and is a transition my family and I have come to master. 

 Until we can say "TOGETHER, we found a CURE for MS" I will never stop being an advocate or stop wearing orange. MS has had a huge impact on our lives and although it's a constant rollercoaster ride, we are getting closer to the day when a cure will be found. I participate and fundraise for Walk MS simply because I love my mom. Physically I can't help much so Walk MS is a great way to get involved in the fight against MS. It's the sea of orange, the laughter, the tears, the hugs and funds raised that remind me how much every connection truly counts. Mobility is a big issue with those who have MS but every time we take a step, we are closer to the goal of a CURE. Every time we share our stories, it helps someone else become a little bit stronger. Every dollar raised helps someone live a better life. Life is funny in the obstacles it throws our way, and for our family, MS was not something we ever thought we'd face.

  Our event this Sunday, Paint Away MS, is one very close to my heart. I want to do everything I can to help my mom and help researchers get closer to a cure. Not only is art fun, it is also very therapeutic for lots of people. Art has a way of connecting us to one another that creates a universal bond. Because we choose to paint & walk for those who sometimes can't, because we choose to donate to Walk MS, we are getting closer to the day when no one will have to hear the devastating words, "You have MS." 

Mahatma Ghandi once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Mine is to put an end to MS. I hope you will join us this Sunday to create something great and help researchers get closer to finding a CURE!
